Can I access my payroll funds any sooner if I am currently being paid by check?
No, direct deposit advances the electronic deposit of payroll funds only and does not apply to checks. Any applicable standard check holds will still apply.

Can I rely on direct deposit to pay for scheduled bill or loan payments?
While BCU will try wherever possible to advance payroll direct deposits by up to 2 days, availability of funds ahead of the original scheduled pay date is not guaranteed. You should not rely on direct deposit to satisfy the needs of scheduled bill or loan payments, or any other date-sensitive financial obligations.

How does the Switch Direct Deposits tool work?
The Switch Direct Deposits tool removes the hassle of contacting your employer to inform them of your new account information. Enter your direct deposit information into the secure system, submit the switch, and we’ll do the rest. You can monitor the progress and switch status in the “Status” column on your Dashboard.

Do I have to opt-in to direct deposit?
No. direct deposit is automatically applied to any Credit Union member payroll direct deposit or other electronic deposit.

Does this mean my payday changes?
No, your payday doesn’t change. The Credit Union simply advances your payroll funds so you'll be able to access them up to two days before your scheduled payday. This is a service provided by the Credit Union for our members; this is not a service your employer provides.

How does it work?
Financial institutions are notified of forthcoming electronic deposits before they actually receive the money. Instead of waiting for the funds to arrive like most banks, the Credit Union gives our members their money sooner by advancing payroll and any other electronic deposits as soon as we are notified they are on their way.

Is there a fee?
No, there is no fee. Direct deposit is free for all members.

What are the different checking account options offered by the Credit Union?
The Credit Union offers a variety of checking account options—all with no monthly maintenance fees or minimum balance requirements:
PowerPlus™ Checking—allows you to earn a great dividend rate on balances up to $15,0001, provides unlimited monthly cash refunds of out-of-network ATM fees and simplified monthly qualifications
Simply Checking™—a basic account for your day-to-day transactions
Minors over the age of 16 are eligible to open a checking account if a parent or legal guardian is listed as the joint account holder on the membership.

What is a MICR number and what does it mean?
MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. This is the account number listed on the bottom of your checks. This information is used for setting up direct deposits and automatic withdrawals from your accounts.

What is my MICR number or account number?
Your 14-digit Direct Deposit/MICR Number can be found on the bottom of your checks. You will see a series of numbers separated by colons (:) or other symbols. Your Direct Deposit/MICR Number is the series of numbers in the middle (see bold below).
Example: 271992400 : 00000000000000 : 0000
If you don't have checks, you can also retrieve this number by logging into Online Banking and selecting the deposit account for which you would like the information. Simply:
Log in to Online Banking.
Select the account you'd like to view from your account list.
The routing number and MICR/Direct Deposit number will appear underneath the Account Details section.
NOTE: Loan account numbers can be found on the loan coupon book. If you don't have a coupon book, please contact us for your loan number.
